The nip width and dwell time are considerably longer than those of conventional roll presses.

Two sizes of shoe modules are offered by Scan Machineries. Approximately 1500mm is the outside diameter of the larger one, and the maximum width of the paper web is 10m. In this configuration, linear loads can be applied up to 1400kN the second shoe module has an outside diameter of 1300mm and a nip range of up to 1400kN/m with a paper web width up to 6m.
